The Krabbenfoor is a exuberant annual market that has been held for over 60 years on the final weekend of July and welcomed nearly 250,000 visitors in 2025.

It is a colourful mixture of shopping and entertainment combined with numerous pavement cafes, generally a real treat to experience. 

Over 200 participants, local, national and even international, will be present with a stall, making the choice of products on offer enormous.

The wide range of local hospitality venues and the many outdoor terraces ensure that visitors lack for nothing.

The entertainment consists of various artists who entertain the audience, making the spectacle complete.

During the Crab Fair, plenty of music can also be heard in the various squares in the city centre. The entrepreneurs of the squares take on the organisation entirely themselves and, with a great deal of enthusiasm, give it a varied interpretation. 

In addition, there is also plenty of attention given to art and culture with a so-called art market in the courtyard of our magnificent Markiezenhof. There will also be a Pasar Malam, which will transport visitors into exotic Eastern atmospheres with music and, of course, the very extensive cuisine.

Annual markets have been a familiar phenomenon in Bergen op Zoom for centuries. In the 15th century, Bergen op Zoom could even compete with Antwerp, Bruges, Breda and Den Bosch with its annual market.

Naturally, the times have changed, but it is something that has remained in the DNA of this city, which is why the Krabbenfoor was established more than 50 years ago.

The name foor is the translation of annual market, and krabben comes from the name given to this city during Vastenavend (carnival) called Krabbegat, and that is how the name Krabbenfoor originated.

During the annual Krabbenfoor, local businesses from Bergen on Zoom show their best side with attractive offers, while associations introduce you to the Burgundian heart of the town. Streets and squares are filled with stalls, books, art, and culinary delights. Of course, children's activities and attractions are not to be missed.

For anyone who doesn't want to go home just yet after a day's shopping, there are performances on the Grote Markt and the Beursplein until the small hours. Furthermore, there is an art market in the courtyard of the Markiezenhof, where artists from all over the country exhibit their work.
